This is an editorial/opinion essay. This article talks about the many reasons why standarized testing is bad. The writer opens with a very colorful description , compariing standarized testing to the movie " the blob" and how teachers are constantly being attacked form out side forces or " invaders that do not undertsna dwhat is really going on. The writier goes on to explain it is not an accurate depiction of studneted growth an boldy states that, "
This is setting teachers up for failure. This will ensure regular turnover, keeping the teaching force young and inexperienced, afraid and compliant."
I am happy I came across this article because it was a very informal personal look at teacher evaluation and stardized testing from an educator. the writer states that she is a college professor and has had much experience in education. So clearly this is someone who knows about the issue and to hear their honest opinions.

The article above is an analysis article by an education writier at new york times and specifically focuses on the stardaized test itself and its content. It talks about a confusing standardized testing reading question that many students and others cannot figure out the answer to. It basically explains how is it fair to base a students tests scores on question that they do not know anything about because they are simply worded badly and the subject matter or content hasnt been learned.
I found this article very useful. I had actually come across this article last year and found it sickening. I myself tried to think of the answer and could not. I feel that it is open to interpretation and shows not every students is the same and will interpret it in different ways but to say ' NO! you got it wrong" is hindering their creativity especially when its on a question like the talking pineapple. This article was very useful in this project because it gave me a chance to show others what this standarized testing this really is and give evidence for why it is not the best way to go about things.

In this reputable website article, this non profit unbiased website that discusses controversial issues in the news addressed the chicago teachers strike and how many teachers are angered and affected by race to the top and standarized testing. and many teachers are being fired.
I really liked to use this piece because it was a political look at things and a chance to see how invested the educators are and that they are truly being affected by all of this and care about their jobs and what is right. I feel like this is a connection to the first article I reviewed where the writer stated that the new younger teacher were , " afraid and compliant" but these veteran teachers are standing up fro theri rights and how they feel.

In this scholarly article the speaker goes on to talk about testing corporations making profits from the tests and scoring and also talks about how students at young age should not be tested this way. the writer also brings up some interesting points about what the student is thinking on the testing day whether they take the test seriously whether they are nervous are not. He also brings up a point about testing being a vehicle for politicians to feel in control in the educations systems.
i found this articled very helpful because he brought up points I had never thought of before especially the one about testing companies making profits. It really makes you think if these people really have the schools best interest at heart.
